Your client's medical reimbursement plans need to be in compliance with present law. For that reason it is important to have a technical resource that can provide the necessary answers, forms and documents.

On November 16, 2001 the IRS issued "Settlement Guidelines" which are the rules their agents are to follow relating to medical reimbursement plans. These follow the "Coordinated Issue Papers" released in late 1999. Some of the critical issues examined are:

  • There must be a written plan in effect
  • The employee-spouse must be a bona fide employee
  • The importance of a written agreement outlining the employee's duties and wages
  • An adoption agreement and a plan document providing that the employee-spouse is eligible to participate
  • The insurance policy should be issued as the employee-spouse being the subscriber

Because of the complexity, you need someone to provide a "turnkey" enrollment program. That answer is the S.E.E.D. Plan. For an annual deductible cost of $200 we can administer these plans. Summary of what we provide.
